I have a hen that is eggbound. I have tried just about everything. I have put her in warm baths for 30 minutes the last 2 days (not today, but yesterday and the day before). The first day after the bath she laid an egg about 4-6 hours later. The 2nd day I gave her the warm bath no egg. Today I didn't give her a warm bath as I was really busy. I have also taken olive oil and coated her vent w/ it hoping that will help. Am also giving homeopathics to help her expel the egg(s) she might have in her. I have her in a rabbit hutch by herself. There is a box w/ hay in it for her to lay in if she wants to. She is eating and drinking and pooping and I do have crushed up really fine egg shells for the calcium. About 3 weeks ago I switched the feed from organic to non-organic (switched due to finances being tight). I am wondering if this could have caused her to go egg bound due to the switching of food? What else can I do for this hen. I can't afford to take her to the vet. My only other option would be if she continues to be eggbound she will die and so probably should put her out of her misery before she dies. I'm gonna try another warm bath w/ her tomorrow. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
