That's great news! I am so glad, thanks for the update! What's been going on with her the last few months? Can you no longer feel the cemented egg? I am so proud of Avril for being such a survivor!

Hi BW,
I can still feel a mass - but it's not in the same spot. Not sure if it's a new egg, or the old one.
Avril is her usual sweet self, we are all just trying to survive the winter here. She's pretty smart, though. When I give treats to the chickens outside, instead of fighting for a portion (she's the smallest chicken), she runs into the coop and eats all the food in there.
How are Grace and Honey doing?

I'm amazed and very relieved to hear that Avril is doing so well! Whatever was going on inside her body with those eggs, it seems she has overcome it. And even laying normal eggs again, that's wonderful.

Honey and Grace are doing good. It wasn't easy re-introducing them back to the flock after being inside for so long, they had forgotten them, but everything is fine now. They are part of the flock again and all is well.

I don't remember where you're located, are you having a hard winter? Seems like some parts of the country are getting pounded over and over! I shouldn't complain since I live in TX but we are expecting another super cold air mass to bear down on us this week. Supposed to snow and get into the teens for several nights. This is supposed to be the coldest air mass so far, and we're not used to being below freezing for days at a time! Not arctic-like cold I know, but with 11 bantams in a big coop with no heat, I'm going to be worried about them.

It's not crazy at all. I've shelled out $150 for an x-ray for a rooster before. As long as you can afford it and feel she's worth that kind of money, I say go for it.
