Eggbound or Internal Laying?

Hi @buffy18:frow
What made you feel inside the vent for an egg if she's in a good mood? Was she originally lethargic, not able to poop, showing signs that something was wrong?
She also wasn’t in a good mood for two days and she was quite to mellow she was sitting too often and she wasn’t in the mood to eat

So would you have any thought on what might be wrong, it’s quite clearly and egg it’s right below her vent with a small layer of thick tissue covering it, she is pooping now and show a small and pretty normal interest in food and a huge interest in water

She was not pooping or laying and I only have two hens so I can tell which ones typically lay

I understand now:)
So you would say that she was lethargic?
If you feel an egg right below the vent under a layer of thick tissue, I would have to take a guess and say she laid internally.
Have all her eggs been "normal" no soft shells, wrinkled or lash eggs?

When you feel her crop first thing in the morning before she eats/drinks, is it empty?

Her drinking a lot of water - she may be a bit dehydrated since she didn't feel very well for couple of days and was not drinking. But I would check her crop in the morning to make sure there's not an issue there.

What do you feed your hens including treats?

They don’t get treats everyday but sometimes eggs, a tiny bit of corn chucked around the yard(meant for chickens) lettuce once in a while and sometimes cucumber or a tiny bit of banana. She hasn’t had a soft shell or any problems in the past

What type of feed do you use?

IF there is an egg in the abdomen, there is not much you can do. If she has perked up, eating/drinking and able to poop I would keep watch on her. Getting a fecal float to check for worms and monitoring her crop to make sure it's empty in the morning and checking for lice/mites are all thing you can do.

Her crop is always empty in the morning before she eats and I use layer crumbles and pellets, oyster shell, and cracked corn and scratch for the free ranging morning

An update on Pretty Hen (the kids named her that). She hasn't laid any more eggs, is still always holding her tail down, and definitely isn't quite right. We're keeping her in the dog kennel, still, to make sure the roosters don't hurt her. She does have an appetite ... quite eager to eat when I bring her some feed or a scrambled egg. I made a perch for her to sit on in the dog kennel because she was getting poop smeared all over herself without one. She's staying much cleaner with the perch.

So I don't think it's egg binding or an internal lay at this point. Must be something else, but will just try to keep her comfortable and fed until she either gets better or not.

Buffy is doing well, you can still feel an egg (from her abdomen slightly swelling) but she has perked up and is eating drinking and pooping. So I cannot tell what is going on. She’s happy but there is most definitely an egg, it’s been two weeks and I’m sort of starting to stress

Please tell me if anyone could know what going on with my hen, she has a lump/egg stuck in her but she’s acting normal but won’t let me pick her up or touch her stomach and down
