We have a coop with an attached run. But we also use a portable tractor to allow the girls access to fresh grass etc. without the scare of wandering dogs.

But I'm not sure when to put the girls into the tractor. They have just begun to lay in the past week or so. Should I wait until about noon so that hopefully the egg laying will be done? I am worried about what would happen to an egg laid in the tractor.

Silly question, but can they "hold" the egg or is it like a baby and when it needs to come it comes!

Put a makeshift nest box in the tractor? Mine lay at various times during the day...usually done by 5 pm so we let them free range in the evening!
