Hen got broody setting on 13 eggs on 4/6 Wife noticed she seemed to be having trouble covering eggs We checked and she had 24 !!! Any one had any luck when she gets off nest with majority of chicks putting remaining unhatched eggs in incubator Or just write em off ???

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
Was she not isolated from the other hens?
You have no idea how staggered the hatch is going to be if others were plunking their eggs in her nest when she went on broody breaks.
I'd leave her on the nest for a day or two after the majority of the eggs hatch then candle what is left and put the live ones in the incubator. You'll have to do your best to determine how far along they are in the process.
Good luck.

Yes I isolated he but not good enough She is now

Staggered batch is pretty sad. All those late comers perishing.
Last year i had the same thing happen to me and one of my banty hens. Luckly i have several broodys all summer long, so what i did was wait for 6 or seven chicks to hatch, move her and her chicks off the nest, replace with new broody.....etc. i ended up with 4 broodys, each with about 6 chicks each. Only 2 eggs did not hatch in the end.
If you dont have more broodys, do you have an incubator?

Yes I have incubator I’ll get temp stable today thanks

Welcome to BYC. 24 eggs is a lot to effectively incubate. I'd do something slightly different as staggered hatches can be a disaster. I would candle the eggs leaving the 12 most developed with the hen and putting the rest in the incubator.
