Hello all,
We moved our girls into the great big new coop we just built and despite having golf balls in the nesting boxes, they're laying everywhere in the coop but the nesting boxes. They are, however, pooping all over the nesting boxes. I was surprised after the shock of the move that they'd lay at all... I just wonder how else to get them to figure out where to go. I put one of the eggs in a box to see if they'd realize where they were supposed to go. Does anyone else have a suggestion?
Thanks

Is there anyway to confine them in the area with the nesting boxes from about six am to noon or so? Also are your roosting bars higher then your NBs? Can you post pics of your setup? Sometimes ceramic or wooden eggs work better then golf balls. Do you have any?

My nesting boxes are about 4inchws off of the floor with a slope going to them. They go lengthwise down the right side of the coop along the center third of the wall. The roosts are along the back wall, higher than the roosts but not hanging over them.
I guess I could keep them corralled somehow but it would be tough. I've currently got two black australorp pullets blocked off already so there would be a lot of dividers in there. Cluttered.

Good. It's probably just ah adjustment period. Keep me posted
