Eggs and sperm

Does each chicken egg have to be fertilized by the male on a per breeding act basis or do the chickens retain sperm to use for later usage? If they retain the sperm, how long do they do that for?

sperm is stored by the hen. she could be bred up to a month, but the viability decreases as the days go on.. at a week it is more likely to be bred than at two weeks etc.

I have heard that turkeys can go for 200 days.. I don't know if that is true or not.. My Tom will not let it go that long..
