Eggs are coming...Hubby's gonna be mad

I like to hide the most recent eggs until he's not around and then slip them into the incubator. Later, when he asks why some didn't hatch I say I'm giving them a few days in case they were slower to develop. It's the truth, and I only get in trouble for that FIRST box of eggs!

It's nice to know I am not in this hatchaholic boat alone.

That's how mine is, he never even notices new ones. It took him two days to notice the new bator

I keep my eggs on a constant cycle now. I have one incubator and one hatcher so I never have to stop

All the chatter about continuous incubation and hatching raises the question (to this newbie) - how well do the new guys "assimilate" into your current flock(s)? I've heard chickens don't like new additions... how is this handled?? (I'm on my first hatch - due the 15th, and already thinking about ordering another incubator!)

Depending on your flock and coop/run area there may be some that get along alright, but usually you will need a need living quarters for the newbies. I have over 200 chickens now so I have 14 large coops and I don't know how many smaller ones.

Take my advice and start building now. There is always a new coop in process here.

Do you think I'm addicted?

Seriously you can always sell some chicks and just keep your favorites. My problem is they are ALL my favorites.
