Eggs are geting very Hot In Incubator [Help]

make that 3 now !!!...whoo hoo ...ps at times mine went up to 38.8-9 ... had it in my garage under a tin roof ...alarm went ballistic ..took me a while to figure out that the ambient air was at 38 degree and it was not the bator malfunctioning .... moved it outdoor now with a make shift roof ...seems more stable

you can see one here...3rd from the back .... and that survived 38.8 degrees .... so i wouldn't worry about the 0.2 degree fluctuation !

Just an updated ... yip got 4 chicks from that last batch out of 66 eggs ...not too good ... so had to go undercover and figure out why ... and found it ... fans weren't working ...got 4 of them in there and only found 1 working ...not good ... wasn't circulating the heat properly ... next batch due in a week ... fingers crossed !

Updated ...since i repaired the fans and added an extra one 3rd batch -due tomorrow- is looking very promising ... 3 chicks hatched already and counted 10 that have pipped ... hopefully out of the 66 eggs hoping for at least a 50 percent hatch rate ! So 1st batch was bad eggs (got none ) ...2nd batch bad air circulation (only 4 hatched ) ... 14 so far on 3rd batch and have kept temp at 37.6 , humidity at 60-65 percent consistently from day 1 ... updated again in 2 days .

Also almost complete with my enclosures ... measuring 6 by 8 meters each (5 hens and a rooster in each)... planning on using my 2 breads ( sussex and new hampshires ) to sex link .... plot to establish my chicken armies to take over the world coming together !!!! HAHAHAHAHA!

total of 29 hatched out of 66 for day 21 ... will leave the rest for another day or two ...not expecting much more ...just short of my 50 percent goal ...looks like i still got alot of tinkering to do .... thinking maybe another fan or two ...quite a big volume inside and maybe air isn't distributing evenly ...cant hurt !!! Maybe play with the humidity a little ..mate of mine that lives down the road with his fancy pants million dollar bator keeps his at a constant 60 humidity start to finish ... says he has round about a 80 percent hatch rate but does over 300 eggs a shot. Also ... up until the final batch i put in a week ago ... i didn't store them point side down before loading them ...see if that helps! To me --failure means learning ...

dwyane --- AC's ??? All the equipment inside looking fine ... using 3 computer fans ( got them for next to nothing -- got an extra 10 for back up --paid about 4 dollars for 13 at a yard sale) and a main fan together with the heating element and controls i scavanged off a smaller bator!

I never candle ...scared i might just toss a good egg out and keep a bad one ! Don't really know what i'm looking at and coupled with the lack of experience in that area I try and get my setup as good as i can get it ...then hit repeat ! bator big enough so i over compensate with the amount of eggs i put in there .

oh wow! do you open the unhatched eggs afterward? Maybe they aren't even viable to begin with, could be why your hatch numbers are so low.

Honestly, I think candling is the best gauge of how development is going along the way. I think if you tried it with a good strong light, you'd be amazed with what you can see. And when in doubt, leave it in.
You really should try it!! :)
