Eggs are geting very Hot In Incubator [Help]

Had to move the old eggs out to get the new ones settled ... so far 31 out of 66 hatched ... busy autopsying the old eggs as i'm writing this ... cracked open about 20 so far ... just yolk - 1 or 2 had a quarter sized chick ... non starters .....seems my lads aren't doing their jobs ...its not the incubator ...its my flock management that's lacking! But working on that as i've discussed !

WV ... I have tried but not too clued up as i said ... am working on it however !

That's good and bad news. What's your hen to rooster ratio? Are the layers new/young? Are their butts too fluffy? (lol, some people do trim butt feathers for better fertility)

Oh, I would also suggest taking a good sniff of any egg being opened after incubation. Opening a stinking dead one can be horrible, to say the least!! Lol!

Just cut down on my roosters ...down to 3 now ... but have about 29 hens ... was working on a ratio of 1 to about 6 ... but that seems to have jumped conciderably .... had no idea people actually trimmed their hens butts ...haha!

Your avatar pic about made me spit my coffee :lau

Roosters should be able to manage 6-10 even 15 or more hens comfortably. But when they have too many, they play favorites -- whichever hens are "easier" ;) It is also possible that one rooster isn't as fertile as the others, or some combination of issues like that.

day 16 and i see no vain in any of the eggs

None?? Maybe your light isn't bright enough. Day 16 you should see quite a bit of dark blob and lots of veins. Can you see thru the egg, like just a yellow/orange glow or do you see nothing?

You should see something similar to this:

dwyane --- AC's ??? All the equipment inside looking fine ... using 3 computer fans ( got them for next to nothing -- got an extra 10 for back up --paid about 4 dollars for 13 at a yard sale) and a main fan together with the heating element and controls i scavanged off a smaller bator!
Air cells

oh wow! do you open the unhatched eggs afterward? Maybe they aren't even viable to begin with, could be why your hatch numbers are so low.

Honestly, I think candling is the best gauge of how development is going along the way. I think if you tried it with a good strong light, you'd be amazed with what you can see. And when in doubt, leave it in.
You really should try it!! :)
:thumbsup I love candling!! :hide and always do the sniff-test :sick
