Woke up this morning, temp down to 97. They have only been in there 7 hours now so this is still the eggs warming up, right? I leave the dial alone? I have LG and don't want to mess with it if it is going to cause a spike in temp later on.

I got too anxious about the temp and turned the dial just a teeny bit, it is up to 99 now. oh the excitement!

I have to make myself leave the room that I have them in, I feel like I am going to try and watch water boil for the next 21 days!

Ok it is day 10.
Haven't been posting anything since no significant updates. Temp has stayed between 99 and 100. humidity between 26-38.
The first few days we had a freeze and there were 2 days I woke up to it at 98, but nothing major.

Today I decided to candle!
I have 6 BLRW eggs and alot of Welsummers, so I candled the BLRW since those seemed easy enough to see through.
1st one was a quitter I think, I could see one visible vien (I think) but mostly clear.
Then I had 2 cloudy but no movement, they were very cloudy like something was in there. couldn't see any veins or significant dark spots but was not clear like the 1st.
3 had movement! it was the neatest thing I have ever seen, except for my sons ultrasounds!
I tried 2 of the welsummer eggs and could just see cloudy in them, but they are so dark it was hard to tell.

This was the first time I opened the bator (pat on back) I have tried to ignore it except to check temp and humidity.
I read on someone elses post a way to add water and avoid opening was to put a straw through one of the vent holes into the water area and drop water through there, so that is how I have been doing that.

Do you think the cloudy ones will still have a chance? Could the 2 days of droping into 98 have slowed the growth or am I just wishful thinking? The BLRW were the most important to me LOL
When should I candle again to see if there is a change? I think I am going to wait another week maybe, or when ever I candle again to remove the clear one. or should I just leave it?

Oh, and my buff orphington went broody on day 7. She has 6 eggs under her I think. I moved her into a brooding type box where she can stay with her babies when they hatch. I hope they hatch. I got a rooster about 2 weeks ago, so the eggs should be fertile. I thought about putting some of these under her, but then they would be a week off from her eggs and might make her stop incubating them.

It seems like you are doing a good job so far.If you are not good at candling I would leave the eggs in .I would candle again at day 18 when you take out the turner.Any clear eggs can be tossed then.

I would leave the cloudy ones for now. Usually at this time they are either clear, or have a blood ring, or the yolk is shaken up and broken in shipping. I got some eggs in the mail that were wrapped exactly like that and they were beautiful. Out of 10, 2 were clear. It's day 16 and I still have 8. If I hatch 8, (fingers crossed), it will be the best hatch I've ever had.
But those temp bawbles make me crazy. I've been working hard to keep the temp between 99.5 and 100.5. I don't fool around with the temp setting anymore. I just add a lamp, or bubble wrap, or take it away and put the ceiling fan on. The weather here has been all over the place, from 70 to 40, humidity from 40-88% outside. I think there's more to a temperature reading than just temp and humidity. I'm sure there are some other factors involved as well that we can't change. Barometric pressure, atmospheric pressure, altitude. Still makes me crazy!
