People cull chickens for less reason than that. For instance, they were born male, wrong color eggs/feathers, they were ugly, they didn’t fit SOP, they had too many… the list goes on. I’d much rather see people processing their unneeded/wanted birds rather than dumping them as one such stranger did a couple years back. Imagine my surprise when I saw a small flock of scraggly birds down the road. They also tossed the feed bags they used to transport them. Honestly it is so much easier/faster to process them than it is to find someone to take them. Plus you get the meat whereas most the time you’d get nothing for all your hard work raising them.
