Eggs developing slowly

I did a spot check with a couple different thermometers tonight and the middle is several degrees cooler than the outer ring. The ones on the outer ring are temping right at 99.5, so I guess I have my answer as to why. Now just to see if the babies will make it. I'm super disappointed because those were the eggs I wanted to hatch most and have been the most difficult to find. I specifically put them in the middle in case the outside edge didn't get a warm. Looks like it backfired and I should have put them in both areas. Live and learn I guess.

It makes me angry that manufacturers are getting away with producing such low quality products and sad that people keep buying those…

The difference in price between a good and a cheap one is so big that I understand but it’s not right.

The NR360 is actually one of the best out there. Sure, there’s a few bad reviews-but then again, aren’t there always? Not trying to be rude, just saying that this is my favorite incubator. (Also, you’re usually supposed to check beforehand, not trying to say that the OP did anything wrong, but even the best incubators have their hot and cold spots.)

The NR360 is actually one of the best out there. Sure, there’s a few bad reviews-but then again, aren’t there always? Not trying to be rude, just saying that this is my favorite incubator. I’m glad you (and many others) have a good experience with this incubator.

Ofcourse you always should check temperature of your incubator beforehand. But in my personal experience with incubators a several degrees difference in a small incubator is a lot.

Anyway, don’t want to step on someones toes, just trying to help OP. And it’s definitely sad the eggs didn’t hatch/develope.

I borrowed this one from a friend because the one I have isn't big enough for the amount of eggs I had. She hatches chickens professionally and had never had a problem. I didn't think to check it because of that. I've heard this incubator is great, so maybe this one is just old and worn out? I'm not sure, but it definitely is a bummer for me

Just an update as I candled again tonight. None of the Narragansetts are developing any longer. I took them all out and will do an eggtopsy in the morning to see when they stopped developing.

Eggs that are shipped are less likely to hatch regardless of what incubator you're using.

These eggs were not shipped but bought locally. The other breed I got from the same person only had 1 hatch out of 4 and it is struggling. I think the eggs may have either been older than I was told or the flock isn't very healthy
