eggs dropping off roost

I had one egg broke under the roost a couple weeks ago broken on the floor under the roost then none . This morning I had two on the floor broken what can I do to stop this? they have nice nest boxes & the other birds & I guess these ones use them most of the time..

I have one hen who routinely leaves her eggs under the roost -- it's almost as if she's laying them while she's asleep. I have a lot of shavings under the roost so usually they don't break, but sometimes they are a bit dirtier than I care for. I can't help you with a suggestion on how to break the habit, though.

If your girls are new at this laying thing then things will get better. it is a good idea to keep a close eye on this situation so you can collect any of these broken eggs before the others start to eat them, creating a bigger problem.

It takes time sometimes to get everything going smooth, but once you get to that point it will be worth all your effort. Good Luck!
