I've heard that quail on the ground is a bad idea. I don't know why since they live on the ground a nature. I could see a problem with worms or a problem if it wasn't keep clean.

Well, I just decided I really like getting eggs. So my birds have just been moved into the garage/barn and will be getting added light. Hopefully I will know soon how well this works....

mine dropped from 40 eggs to 25 yesterday. we are only getting about 11 1/2 hours of daylight a day now. so we figure it is because of the day light

The weather has been bad every evening too.
Hot and sunny all day till about 5 and then the rain comes.

I am so far happy wih the added light. I went from no eggs for a week to one egg Wednesday and 4 eggs yesterday....

Next week I think I will add a light on a timer to the chickens too. They have not started laying yet but I do want some eggs!
