This is my first incubation lot, so I'm not sure what to expect really..
We have 4 eggs due to hatch today, and only 1 is tapping away at the egg ( as you can hear it) there has been no cracks yet, but they still all have their air cell. How long should I leave the chick tapping away?

From time chick gets external pip could be up to 36 hours. Its easy to want to help. But from forums on here and personal experience.

Do nothing. Just set back and wait.

Hope you have a good hatch.

I'm worried the humidity is wrong, and they could be shrink wrapped, as it never arrived in the post after.. I've ordered another one tho hoping it will be here tomorrow at the latest.
Will they poke through their air sack and that's how you know they are going to hatch soon?
Thanks

How long has it been since the internal pip? I was instructed to wait 12 hours after I noticed the beak in the air cell, and then make a "safe hole" by just making a teeny tiny puncture in the top so they could breathe, but not so large that it'd mess too much with the humidity inside the egg. I had to assist one of my lil' call ducks out, it was pretty harrowing but he's doing just fine now with a little help from you guys and a medicine dropper full of sugar water and vitamins.
