My 8 month old birds (8 Buffs, 4 Barred Rocks and 3 Redstars) are all (but one or two) still laying eggs. I get 12 to 14 eggs everyday, still....is this because they are youngsters? Someone told me that my chickens are spoiled, so they are happy, and happy chickens keep laying even in the winter. Whatcha' think?

First year layers will lay through winter (though maybe at a reduced rate of their normal production depending on the amount of light they get). After their first year, you'll likely see a big drop off in the following fall and winter due to molting and shorter daylight hours.

oh, ok...i do not supply extra light, just lots of free ranging and things to keep them occupied. lol...like the picture with the cabbage ball

oh boy...my friends will not like that..they love all the fresh eggs!
This is where we all can learn that eggs are a seasonal food ;)
Or you can get a bigger coop, some fresh pullet chicks next spring, and set up a lighting system. Even then, you'll get more eggs in spring and summer than fall and winter.
