Oh, aren't the first eggs from young hens exciting!
My Wheaten Americanas and my young Cuckoo Marans, and Welsummers, have all started laying in a small trickle.
The Wheatens came from Peachick, and are turning into lovely, large birds, and the eggs are a darker color than I have seen from any other Americauna so far. Very pretty.
The Welsummers are dark and some have big speckles, really nice.
The Cuckoo Marans truly are a pretty chocolate color.
It is just a trickle, so far, but I am all excited, and they look so pretty in the egg carton, all different colors.
The young Buff Orpingtons have not started to lay yet, probably in about three weeks, and when they do, there will be yet another color, a little lighter.
