I had put 4 eggs in the bator and waited well over 2 weeks. I candled them a couple of times and no veins. So after the 2 weeks. I took them out and cracked them open to see what was going on. How do I tell if they were even fertile????

The yokes would have the white bulls eye one them, a little teenie tiny white dot with a tiny white ring around it. You should still be able to see it after 2 weeks of incubation. All eggs with have a white spot, but only fertile ones will have the bulls eye.

They wern't shipped. They are from my woodie pen. They only laid 4 eggs last year and I had the same result.

I have collected 6 more so I am going to give it another round.

They have all that they need to breed. Fresh water, food, nest boxes so I don't know why they are ending up infertile.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what I can do to improve fertitly???

It's hard to tell. Some larger breeds actually prefer a small kiddie pool for their act. Perhaps that is what this male needs. It also can be that he is not producing sperm.

how old are they, that is common on first year wood ducks, especially the first few,
and NO at 2 week you will not see a bullseye, thats on fresh eggs, by then it will just be a nasty mess when you break it open, or it would have had a duck in it

I have 5 males and 7 females. I can't believe that all 5 would not be producing sperm. All of the birds are on their second year laying and I have different blood lines. So there is no inbreeding. I am just stumped as to what to do........
