Eggs for hatching from Gar Creek Poultry

An e-mail was forwarded to me from a lady that is reducing her flock. She stated that she had let the egg color go and it would take a couple of generations of breeding them to good quality stock to get the color back.

So I figure that my eggs, which are ok dark are probably about the same.

I'm just guessing really.

It still boils down to me needing to get some REAL QUALITY DARK EGG CHICKENS and working on it.

Don't we love hobbies!

I see. Thanks for the info. I am hoping that I will have my "dream" flock in a year or so. In the mean time I am gathering as much info as possible. My Daughter is dying to have some Marans.

BuckGuy, thanks for the e-mails. Have contacted both Laurie and Ricky. Can't believe that these folks are within a stones throw of me and I couldn't find anything about them. Hopefully I'll be adding some new birds to the brood. Yee Haw! And it's all because of you... My hero!

Your most welcome. I am glad to have been able to help. The way Ricky talks, you and his mother-in-law might be neighbors. I am still waiting on word from Iona. Keep me posted on how many new chickens you end up with.

His MIL is probably about 15 minutes down the road from me. He'll call when he has some chicks.

How serendipitous...

I think this gar creek site is some kind of bad joke, for those looking for seriously good birds and wonderful service on rare breeds there is Sandhill Preservation Center in Iowa. I recently ordered 25 very rare Buff Catalanas and they are very beautiful, healthy and happy! I have just ordered some Orpingtons, Welsummers and Partridge Penedesencas! I will let y'all know how this batch turns out! So far it's been a pleasure to deal with them' now can someone help me find some wheaten penedesencas?
