Ebay is a great place to buy hatching eggs, imo.
I'm a seller and buyer on
Ebay and have had no problems. I currently have a clutch of
spectacular Silkie eggs (day 17, now) under two hens from
Ebay - so far only two of thirteen eggs have been given the ol' heave-ho by my hens, so viability seems very good.
I like Eggbid as a buyer, too, though rarely use it as a seller unless selling live birds. (It's such a huge pain posting ads on Eggbid!
) One of my birds at the state fair right now is out of Peekaboo Silkie's eggs I got off Eggbid. He's a ***gorgeous*** bird.
Why
Ebay is a good place to buy:
Ebay seller's work VERY hard to get that 5 star perfect feedback and will pretty much go to the ends of the earth to make sure you're happy. But there are a few "bad eggs" on
Ebay. As a general rule, I never buy from someone with a less than 99.2% positive feedback. (I don't know why the .2- it is what it is - I just won't bid if it's less than that.) You can probably find the same quality product from someone else with a better feedback rating.
A small portion of sellers offer a hatch
satisfaction guarantee, which is what I do. It doesn't hurt me to replace eggs that may have been smashed or "cooked" enroute (buyer pays shipping) - I just want the buyer to have a positive hatch experience. So keep your eyes out for that added feature.
