eggs go in today, question about turning!

I've already told everyone that I know absolutely nothing about chickens and/or hatching, so you will probably not be surprised by this question!!!

I know that you are supposed to "turn" the egg. Does that mean turn it 180 degrees bottom to top or vise vesa? or does that mean side to side?


Can someone please help!

for me, i've always tilted them from one side to another, because they are in an egg carton, i do this 3-5 times daily, im sure if you have them on their sides though you do the opposite, if im wrong someone else will chime in

Turners just tilt from side to side, from right to left takes about 4 hours or maybe its right to left then back takes 4 hours. Mark each egg with an X on one side and an O on the opposite side. Then when you turn them, you make the other letter show and they should all have the same letter showing at the same time. Some just place their hand on top of several eggs and gently roll them all at the same time. That's if they are laying on their sides.

I am using a carton. So is it the big end up or the smaller end up?

The aircell end of the egg, the fat end, goes up.
