AND .... guess what ....

I have been watching 2 of my hens for 2 days, and now confirm >>>>>
they are broody! They are sitting on the nest at roost time last night and tonight. They have NO eggs under them! Hmmmmm, I am thinking here!

Sounds like at little trip I had. After talking to Tim C. about black Javas, he agreed to get me some chicks if I drove north to Chicago to pick them up at the Museum of Science and Industry downtown on the shores of Lake Michigan. So a family trip to the museum evolved, and the looks the security officers and any other visitors as my husband and I carried two boxes of chicks cheeping through the museum were priceless. I routinely get rolled eyes when I mention driving somewhere to pick up chicken eggs (a different visit to the Abraham Lincoln Museum in Springfield with a side trip for more eggs on spring break) but a carryon to a plane is a new one for me! Mmm I 'll have to do more planning for the next vacation we take! Ha!

I am anxiously awaiting this hatch. Kathy, I have a broody BO and, wait for it.... WHITE LEGHORN. I though they weren't supposed to go broody ever.

Silly birds! I thought the same thing! Wow, that is surprising, for sure! Did you give the broodies some eggs?

Apparently you haven't seen my bucket of eggs....
