when do the average hens started to mate, lay eggs and hatch, how many days do they brood and the ideal number of eggs for them to hatch successfully ( sounds out like an ignorant fool eehh?)

When pullets are at point of lay or laying and there is a rooster in the pen, that's when mating will start to occur. Anywhere from 19 weeks to 6 months for laying just depends on the hens breed. Not all hens want to set eggs, it's hormones or an internal ticking clock that make them setting hens or to go broody. Hens usually can handle 12 to 14 eggs under them but that doesn't mean they all might hatch out. It takes 21 days for chicks to hatch out under a broody or in an incubator.

Never foolish, it's how you learn by asking questions.
