This is my first time and I have young chickens. Mama hen started laying at 4 months. She was the first. She got broody at 6 months. I'd been collecting her eggs to keep or give away until I saw that she would not get off the next and realized that she was in the family way.

One baby hatched out today, at 19 days. Another is pecking itself out as I type. There are 5 more eggs under her which are doing nothing. My rooster was doing his job, but he was young and since it's very hard for me to tell one of these Light Brahmas from another I don't know if he only was doing his job on his favorite ladies.

How long before I know that the remaining eggs will hatch? This is my first time so I don't know.

Place feed and water close to Momma and the Chicks..She will then continue to hatch or she will leave unhatched eggs in order to feed the first hatchlings..usually she stays on the nest 24 to 36 hours after the first one...

Strange...Mine all eat within 12 hours when I provide feed and water..My Hens continue to hatch as Chicks eat and Drink....
Well, they can, but they don't need to while absorbing yolk.
Putting some crumble and water near nest for early hatchers isn't a bad idea,
but best not to mess with broody or eggs while eggs are still hatching.

Heck no....Never interfere as they are hatching....That's a critical time to back off....I sure stay away...I go in and walk by like they are not their as I glance in...Momma Hen needs no stress....
