eggs in a suitcase

I am soon travelling to my holiday home and would like to take a dozen or so hatching eggs,I am not allowed to take them on board in my handluggage as the airline said they are classed as liquid and not allowed I am thinking of putting them in my suitcae,they will be in purpose made poly boxes and cushioned with my clothes etc,Do you think they will survive the journey? I dont think they will get smashed or cracked because they will be well protected but I am worried about the shaking etc when they handle the suitcase,is it much different than eggs travelling in the postal system?Thanks for any advice or thoughts.

Oh, my have you ever seen them put the suit cases on the plane?? I have and it is scary. I guess if they are free it would be worth a try but I would expect the air sacks to be way upset. I would let them set a long time before trying to hatch them.

Just thought I would update I took 15 polish,10 silkie,12 sussex and 9 serama eggs from the UK to Egypt in my suitcase in polyboxes,On arrival I candled the eggs and all apart from one serama were intact with the airsacs complete,throughout the 21 days incubation I was left with 15 polish,3 serama,4 silkie and 4 sussex which all hatched and are all fine,I think this was an excellent result considering the results I have had with posted eggs, sometimes all arriving with detatched airsacs after a journey of only 50 miles or so

yes i agree shipped eggs are almost always detached cells here

and its all down to dumb Royal Mail and the way they treat the packages

Thanks, I agree about Royal mail sometimes I wonder if the postmen deliberately give them a good shake for devilment when they see them marked fragile

oh i can bet that happens

one batch of 6 i got had a large dent in the foam corner

clear indicator of dropping the eggs

only 1 hatched

then i got another batch of 12 eggs only 2 hatched

then i got another batch of 12 eggs none hatched [they where due in 2 days and only 1 was developing which gave up yesterday]

then i got 6 ducks and only 2 left due june 1st

they all had detached aircells its a miracle they even hatched

i have given up on shipped eggs now

one thing i found is i also did order 6 aseel eggs and the seller packed them soooooo brilliantly they all arrived without aircel damage

but my luck with shipped eggs is pants my son broke 2 of them my daughter broke 1 of them and i dropped one so i lost 4 perfectly viable eggs

then 1 got shrink wrap on hatch day and i only have 1 that hatched

thats the only batch that i think all would have been good if they didnt break

i will defo buy more off that seller

Over the years and a couple of experiments I have come up with a theory that the older the eggs are the less chance they have of surviving the post it crossed my mind when I sold half a dozen or so lots on ebay and all arrived intact with perfect airsacs,I knew the eggs were no more than 2 days old and it made me wonder why the majority of the eggs I received through the post were always damaged,I posted 2 lots of eggs to myself 1 set were 2 days old the others were between 7/9 days old,all the 2 day old eggs arrived intact but 5 out of 6 7/9 day old were detatched
