Eggs in incubator 8/22. Anyone else putting eggs in?

Just done my day 4 candling, and it looks like only 4 out of 8 are developing, I'll recheck on day 7 to be sure.
I'm not having much luck here, in my other incubator I have one remaining egg out of 6 thats due in 3 days.

Did the 5 day candle. I'm saying 4 are developing, 4 are questionable and 4 are nada. Suppose that is only to be expected for shipped eggs. Just glad some are developing! Would never toss an egg before day 10, unless it was oozing or stinky or something.

How'd everyone make out with Irene last night? We lost power for 5 hours, the eggs were down to about 75 degrees by the time the power came back on. I was heating water on the grill (lol!) for hot packs when it came on... Hope they're ok!

I had the same thing happen. Power just came back on about 30 minutes ago. I was able to keep the temp above 80. But I know thats not good either. I think we were without power for about 7 hours. I brought my grill in from outside, and put it into the room and turned it on here and there to keep the temp up. So I hope that saved the eggs, and left our spare bedroom with a nice smell of burgers. lol

Good luck to all those who had power cuts, I hope your chicks will all be ok.

I am in the UK so apart from a lot of flash thunderstorms recently, I haven't really a clue how scarey it must be for you all, but wishing you all the best anyway.
Just rechecked my eggs and from the 8 there are 4 definately developing and one that is either developing slower, or growing a blood ring, too early to tell yet.

Thoughts are with you all, let us know how your eggs do. Fingers crossed for you.

Got some supplies today to make a more efficient and hopefully better candler! I'm hoping that I have at least some developing! *Crossing fingers!*

Hoping for the best for all who got the power cut. I don't think we lost it here in Central PA. Must have been west enough to miss the bigger stuff...

Candler is done and works fabulously! I'm pretty optimistic about what I saw...

definitely some veining and darkening and a dark circle. Hoping that's good!?

I will try to get some pics up later to see what you all think!

Candled all 35 chicken eggs...2 look like duds. The rest look like something going on! Still a little early to tell about the 31 guinea eggs. Some of those were probably 15 days old before they went in the incubator. We had real heavy rain and lots of wind, but glad the power didnt go out for long. Just a few minutes here and there. Must have gotten a good 6" of rain. Have one guinea hen setting on a nest. She never left it. I expected to find her there, kinda swimming like a duck on top of the eggs, but all looks well! Silly bird!
