Well, based on reading threads here, if you get 11 to hatch, you are a very good hatcher!

Bummer on the orp eggs! are they shipped also? What light do you use for candling, it must be a good'un!

LOL not really out of 60 or so shipped eggs, (I really don't want to know exact #)

I have 4 ive chicks to show for it, bad percentage! But I'm learning as I go and shipped eggs are far worse to hatch, I had 4 out of 12 I hatched for my sister and they were local eggs, so am really really hoping to hatch these little guys. I have one silkie, 2 lav orps and one Merriam turkey:confused: who need friends

Well, if it makes you feel better, my last batch of shipped eggs hatched pretty well... then the neighbors dog came over and killed them all.

that takes the winds out of one's sails too.
I suspect you'll find your Brinsea gives you good results.

and Hi instar8! Hope you have a nice hatch when your grand daughter is there. My kids don't look at the incubator much until the 'magical' day comes! lol, so many chickens... not enough pens!

Candled last night I have Blue and Black Marans and BCM on day 13. All the air sac are kinda wobbly but there is growth of the chick so I will leave it for now. I hope for a couple chicks. Both batches are shipped eggs.. I'm really good at shipped eggs. But we'll see what happens. I hope for at least half to hatch, and hoping for mostly girls. Hope everyone else's hatches are going well.

Going to candle my eggs later tonight. The end of Day8. Hopefully I will see some growth, and the 10hrs without power Sunday didn't hurt the eggs.

Mine look odd, not sure if they are going to make it. The air sac fills half the egg on two of them, down the length of the egg. Two look good, one is a blood ring, and the other 3 are clear. But all of them are really hard to candle despite being white, I'm inclined to think the shell is a bit thick, as their are bumpy calcium deposits on 2 of the clear ones.

Last night I candled ( I know, I know

) but the kids were sitting right there and I thought it would be educational!!

and it was. One of the eggs gave us the best display of veining, with the eye moving. It was soo cool!! Even made the husband come look. But then there is another egg that is rather dark inside, with some movement, and a larger air sac. Uhh, I think a few of the eggs began developing in transit!! Either that or I have mutants. This is going to be a very interesting hatch.
Ayda, since you asked, one air sac is slooshy, and that egg appears clear at this time.

Anarchy, I do hope your eggs keep developing...
