Eggs in incubator 8/22. Anyone else putting eggs in?

Mine go into lockdown on the 10th, not long now!

Went to check eggs today and found them floating in 8" of water in my parent's basement. The hatcher had 3 chicks who had managed not to drown, one chick had pipped and drowned, another pipped enough to break the shell but not the membrane and was fine. I moved them to dry land, another has pipped and already hatched (speedy bugger!). So 4 chicks and one on the way. I was expecting possibly 7, so we're still waiting on one from the cochin batch. No idea what the marans will do - they're due to start hatching today.

The incubator was tilted open but somehow everything was still plugged in and warm. Both my thermometer/hydrometers are fried and I"m taking the machines home tonight... screw the 'dangers' of moving eggs this close to hatch. I had them set up in my parent's basement because of the steady temperatures and low traffic... but we've had 2 extended power outages (5 and 3 hours), and now a flood. I want them where I can keep my eye on them!

Oh my gosh! Those little things have been through quite alot! You should name the survivors after super heroes.

Hoping for lots of power and less rain for a successful hatch for the rest!
