eggs in incubator

i had eggs in the incubator for almost a month. i went to start cracking them open to see if anything was going on. i cracked a few chicken eggs and nothing in them. then i cracked my guinea bird egg and there was a baby inside alive. my question is why did they baby not start to come out when it had been so long.

It takes 28 days for guineas. And sometimes they're early and sometimes they're late a day or two usually because of temperature too cool or hot.
