Cardington, Oh
This is my first time hatching and I'm so excited!!! I just put 6 Bourbon Red turkey eggs in the bator and will add 12 Americana when they arrive mid-next week. Trying to sync the hatchings up a little so I don't throw anyone off during the lockdown phase. Can't wait to candle them in a few days to see what I've got going on!!!

YAY!

Have a blessed day!!!!!!!

A friend lent me a Hova Bator with the egg turner. I had a little trouble getting the humidity right at first but think I have mastered it!! Can't wait to candle the little suckers!!!

On a side note....I'm loving BYC!!! I have learned so much from the forums and wouldn't have the healthy flock I have now if it weren't for the site!!

I have a Havo Bator too, no turner. I had my humidity perfect but when I open the unit the gauge goes way up and doesnt go back down? I even calubrated the hydromiter? Our humidity in AR is like 45? Any ideas?

I'm such a novice I don't have any advice. Seems odd that the humidity would spike after opening the bator...normally it would drop. Hope you get it figured out or that is doesn't affect hatching!!

Got my Americana eggs in the bator now as well....hopefully I timed it right and they'll all hatch on or around the 15th!!
I candled the turkey eggs last night and definitely saw the "spider" in 3 of them, 2 had big dark areas in the large end of the egg and one looked empty. Not 100% sure what I'm looking for...will review the candling progression sticky thread again!!!

Well, not sure what my sucess rate is gonna be....I forgot to lockdown until today!!!

Things have been so hectic around here that I lost a week and thought I had another week till hatch day!

Today is day 19 for my chicken eggs and day 25 for the turkey eggs. I just now pulled the turner out and bumped up the humidity. Hope all goes well inspite of my huge error. I've been looking forward to this first hatch and hope I didn't blow it.

Has anyone else made this mistake and still had a decent turn out? After candling them I'm down to 5 out of 6 turkey eggs and 11 out of 13 Americana eggs.
