Okay so I have 26 eggs in the bator and was wondering, I think one of my hens is going broody if she does for sure would it be okay to take a few eggs out of the bator and put them under her? Thanks.

It should be fine, but you need to make certain she is broody first. You also need to do it at night, so she will wake up on them, like she's been sitting on the eggs the whole time.

Yeah, what Gump said, but I wanted to add that I have done this several times with great success. It is so much easier than using an incubator.

I agree with Gumpsgirl. I'd a few put fake eggs (golf balls, plastic eggs, eggs I don't want hatched, something like that) in the nest to give her something to sit on and fuss over until I was sure she is broody.

I know your question is not on this topic, but have you decided if you are going to isolate her from the flock so other hens cannot lay in her nest or not? Here is a link to a thread about the pros and cons of isolating her. It may be helpful or you may already know all about this.

Good luck!

Thank you for that, I hadn't even thought about isolating her yet. I am new to the hatching thing and have to think everything through

Thank you again.
