Ok my first attempt didn't work. I have a still-air syrofoam incubator.

I cracked open the eggs in the first batch and several had baby chicks and some full grown chicks that never hatched out. I let it go probably 27 days.

So, I've let the eggs build in the coop, and pulled them out today. The oldest eggs are probably 3 days old.

Now, I am going to mark them, and take pictures. Be back soon.

from Central California !

So ... what are you hatching ?

I am on day #2. If you put yours in today then we can be hatching buddies. My hatch day should be June 16 if my eggs have been reading their instruction manual! I have 11 Black Copper Marans and 8 Barred Rocks. All shipped eggs. And to make it more interesting, this is my first attempt at hatching, and my first try at having chickens at all. Aaaand, it is against my city ordinance (but lots of people do it). I have a still air LG incubator. Am very interested to hear how your temps are doing and what you decided to do with your humidity.

What are you hatching? What happened with your last hatch?

Thanks for the warm welcome SAORSA

Not to sure on my breed. I saw the name earlier but I forgot it.

SportChick - Sweet! Hatching buddies sounds great. Mine went in the bator around noon today. I'm not exactly sure what happened my last batch, I really thought I done good. If anything, it may have gotten too hot, but I'm speculating.

Here's some pics.

You may have had Humidity problems, that's what it sounds like to me anyway. I use the same Thermometer/Hygrometer as you, and I was having issues with chicks fully forming but not hatching, so I calibrated my Hygrometer and found that one was off by 12% and the other by 10%, so I had too much humidity. Like right now mine reads 45%, but since it's off by 12% it's actually 57%.

yes i would say its a humidty issue as well, i have only hatched once, but i lost 4 chicks out of 13 to bloating in their eggs with high humidity. i had to help several others out of their eggs because their heads were too big to pip and zip.

sweet, now I know!

I will make humidity adjustments..

How do I calibrate my $hi+?

And what type of chickens do I have?

Thanks!
