I am new to the chicken world! I have my eggs in my incubator but what to do once they hatch is still blurry to me. I have to make a brooding box and then a coop...any tips or tricks of the trade are greatly accepted and appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Hi :welcome

Glad you could join the flock! Definatly check out the link that Kelsie has left for you. Lots of great articles there. Raising chicks is a very rewarding experience and lots of fun. Good luck with your eggs hope you have a great hatch.

Enjoy BYC and all the chicken chat :frow

Eggs should be hatching next Wednesday!! Going to candle them tonight and see what's going on in there. Should I be able to see chicks or what resembles a chick? I hope they are growing in there!!

By day 14 your your eggs should be looking pretty full of chick by now. You should be able to see movement too. It will probably look like a dark mass in the egg with an air cell visable. Here are some candling pics in this link https://www.backyardchickens.com/web/viewblog.php?id=230
The lighter colour the shell the easier it is to see what's going on in there. Good luck.

I candled all of the eggs last night and I'm happy to report that all 24 eggs have tiny little chicks squirming around in them!!!
My only concern is that two of them have the air pocket on the wrong end...is this cause for concern??? Will mother nature do it's thing and make him/her go to the right end? Or do I just leave them alone and hope for the best?
