eggs not collected

I'm new here and didn't really know where to post this.

I went a way for the weekend, 3 days, I had asked a neighbors son to collect my eggs for me and to feed and water the chickens. I was to pay him $5.00 a day for the trouble. Anyway he fed and watered the birds but he didn't collect any of the eggs. He said he forgot. So my question is are the eggs still good to eat. They were uncollected 3 days (I got them the night of the third day.) The temps ranged from upper 80s during the day to mid 60s at night. There were a little over a couple of dozen eggs and I'd hate to see them go to waste, but don't want to eat or give them away if they aren't going to be good.

My wife says trash them, the old timer down the road says eat'em. So what's the verdict?

My vote- eat them (Some people leave them on the counter for weeks)

They'll be fine. In Australia, they don't refrigerate them at all, not even in the stores. And lots of older "country" people here in the US don't refrigerate their fresh home grown eggs.

You could float test them. Put them in water....any that float would be "less fresh". Crack those into a separate bowl before using, or feed them back to the chickens or other animals.

Oh dear-I think I got the egg floating thing backwards!!!! I thought that if they sank they were bad and if they floated they were ok. I just fed 2 dozen eggs back to my chickens this week-end thinking they were "old". I didn't remember how long they had set out so I did the water glass test and all that sank to the bottom I cooked for my girls and put the floaty ones in the frig!! Now I have to do it all over again. What a idjit I am!

I don't even collect Tuesday-Friday.

No time.
And the girls seem to like having them there. They get angry when I take them away and make a new nest spot. (No, they're not broody.)
