Hello - I am a new member and am sure this has been answered, but I cannot find the answer. This is the 2nd time one of my Orpington hens have gone broody. First time, last summer ~ and right at 21-22 days, the eggs hatched. But, this time, we had a very, very warm February/ March - nearly 80 in Eastern Tenn, when one Orpington went broody. Into week 2, the weather dipped to the upper teens and low 20's at night. She stayed faithfully on her nest, never leaving once during this cold week. I candled the eggs at day 10. All had shadows, at least "half full/" dark - and one looked nearly all shadowed. However ~ it is now day 27 and no hatching!! What should I do? Do, I float the eggs?

Welcome!

Sorry that I am not able to answer your question but if you post on this Forum you should get some good advice: https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/5/incubating-hatching-eggs

Good luck!

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

If you would like to share pictures and stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out
