EGGS ON THE FLOOR

My girl finally just started laying, but she insist on laying on the floor right in front of one of the nesting boxes

I have had a ping pong ball in the nest boxes as my dummy egg but they just move it out (maybe just not heavy enough). Then she started laying so I left her 1st egg in the coop and placed it in the nesting box. Today I got egg two but she not only laid on the floor again but also pulled the 1st egg down into her own nest. I don't know what to do. I have to go in my coop to collect eggs either way but would like them off the floor, should I just give up?

My hens do this too on occasion. Just keep up with putting the fake egg back into the nest, and keeping the floor clean. Maybe she'll get the idea. Some people use golf balls as fake eggs. I would try switching to a heavier fake egg myself.
