I have four free range hens who have been faithfully laying their eggs inside their nest box since the fall when they started to lay. Now in the past week I've found three eggs all outside the coop, randomly in the middle of my backyard -unhidden, no attempt to make their own nest... It's as if they just couldn't hold it in and let it drop where it may?! Is this a health concern at all or a sign of one? There are no other strange behaviors that I can tell. Thanks!

I don't think it's a health problem... more like a couple of oopsies....

i jsut bought 4 hens ( one died in an attack r.i.p.) but the man that had them had buckets turned on their sides for them to lay in but i have boxes i think my new hens are confused that i dont have buckets one finally layed and egg in the corner floor part of my coop but no nest box action, should i get a bucket to make them feel better or what?
