Eggs rolling around, fat end no longer facing up. Is this a problem?

Hi there

It is currently day 20 and the eggs are starting to roll around. I cut out the bottom of an egg carton to ensure that the air sacs are facing upwards as much as possible, but the eggs have shifted a lot. The eggs are now literally flat on the carton cut-outs. It would have made no difference if I had left the carton cut-outs out.

I know I'm not supposed to open the incubator at this point, but should I shift the eggs back so that the air sacs are facing upwards again?
Any suggestions would be much appreciated

Thanks

Why are they in cartons

They need to be able to kick the shells apart and stuff.
For future hatches, never do that again. It’s not helpful. Not at all. In fact, it may hurt your hatch. Think about it. Eggs hatch under a hen lying on their sides. The hen shifts them around. Turning is necessary so that the chick stays in the center of the egg. Did you turn your eggs at all??
Seriously not a good idea to do this carton thing.

Thanks for all your advice, I have taken out the cut-outs.

Yeah, I only put the cartons under them during lockdown, and have been turning them during the incubation period. Apparently, it's best to prop the eggs up slightly so that the air sacs are facing upwards or something. Anyways, thank you all for replying, I have taken out the cut-outs and won't be repeating this mistake!!

Thank you once again!

Ohhh, I understand. That makes more sense. I thought you had them there the whole time and I got worried. They’re gonna be fine - I just wouldn’t do this in the future.
