Eggs set on 2/11! Who needs a hatch buddy?

I have a question about shipped eggs. Mine are in the incubator in egg cartons with bottoms cut out for air flow, I read that you need to "tilt" the eggs, instead of rolling, at a 45 degree angle. How do you do that? I tilted all mine one direction last night and the other this morning but I know its not a 45....Just wondering if it makes that much of a difference or if I should put them in something else (and what) to achieve this angle?

I candled them again today and now i can see the babies! Hooray! I counted and marked 14 eggs that I am sure had babies in them and where the baby was moving about. Then there were two that may have had babies in them but that didn't look the way the others looked. There were three with blood rings and 7 were clear. I am both excited to almost have 14 little baby chickens and disappointed that almost half of them don't look like they are going to hatch. How come so many died or weren't fertile? It's kind of a bummer. I may not even get the six pullets that I was trying for.

People turn there diff. ways. I use an auto turner in mine, and have never had shipped eggs. But I would think that as long as you are tilting them you should be fine. Here is a link to hatching eggs, don't know if you've read it so here it is.

YAY! Not sure about that, but I do know that if you don't have the right roo to hen ratio all of the hens may not get mated causing the infirtle eggs. There may have been something geneticaly wrong with the ones with the blood rings, or another cause just not sure what it could be.

I set my silkie eggs and are due March 2nd! so we;re close..unfortunately only 1 made it through though :/
I added 2 more fertile eggs 7 days after the 1st batch since I only got 1 sadlonely fertile egg. so mine will be 7 days apart in age,not too bad..good luck!!

Being cold winter here,,a few of mine must have been too cold when I brought them inside, and never made it in the incubator..

well good luck to you to! I have 1 out od 6 ,LOL,but that one lone chick will be with 2 more with a week after hatching, hope it all goes well,,the 2 new ones I started look good and are veining!

I couldn't resist and candled a few last night! Out of the 4 from my birds I can see two are developing, the other 2 have slightly darker more porous shells. Out of the 12 Welsummers I candled 4 and all 4 were developing and our of 4 of the Marans I could only tell that 1 was. Those eggs are just too dark! I will candle all on day 7 (Friday) and hopefully see a little more. Right now the bottom part of the eggs just look a little darker than the top but it also looks like the air cells are reattaching nicely!
