okay I got the temperature at a steady 100, and I mopped up some water. I don't know if I took out enough though

Mine are both pre-set temperature models, so I can't give you much help in how to set the temp on the one you're using. If he didn't give you instructions with it, you can go to the GQF web site and download them.

Hatching eggs is a learning experiance and not always a good one. Patience is the key tho....can't rush it no matter how we'd like to.

If you don't let the temp spike above 104 you should be ok for the first
few days.

Patience when hatching is critical. I know it's exciting but it won't be
if you have a bad hatch. I'm at day 18 on 35 eggs and day 17 on 30 more.
How do you think I feel right now???

Yeah I guess your right. I just have waited so long for these eggs to come in, and I really REALLY don't want to ruin them.
I am still only concerned on the humidity. Will a day of unchecked random humidity kill the embryos because tomorrow I am going to try to get a hygrometer.

Thanks Katy, I found my problem. I found the manual for my bator and i filled two tray in the bottom. The manual said to fill only the first tray. I am relieved. Maybe I can sleep now

Get a hydrometer tomorrow, because the book is only a guideline...a lot depends on where you live and the humidity in the room that you have it set up in. Flucuating temps in the room can also make it hard to keep a steady temp. I do my hatching in the basement since the temps are more steady there. Good luck and remember there's lots of help from a lot of people on this forum.

Patience is right...

I've been trying super hard for 14 days to hatch these here eggs, and still nothing yet!

Don't need to worry so much. I've hatched out eggs sitting in the egg fridge that were 3 weeks old. Only thing that happens with more time is viability slowly decreases and you get an increased percentage of defects.

As for humidity, don't worry about it being too high for the first two days really. Just let it stabalize and keep an eye on the air cell, if it does not grow fast enough, don't add any water, if it is growing too fast, take it out. What matters is net loss by day of hatch. I personally don't use a hydrometer. Good luck!
