EGGS SWEATING!! 1ST DAY IN BATOR!!

Empty it. There should only be an ounce or so of water in one of the wells.
You want your humidity below 50% or you will kill them. It is too soon to
have done any damage so far so just empty the water. You can also use a
damp sponge or sock to provide a minimal amount of humidity.

Petsmart & Petco both have Flukers Hydrometers/Thermometers for $20.
You can get wet bulb and analog types even cheaper. Check your local
pet store too. You may even find one at Lowes or Home Depot.

Hasn't anyone ever told you not to listen to your teachers?

The bator is really getting on my nerves. I'll turn the top on the incubator to adjust the heat because it keeps rising over 100, but then it will eventually go over 100 even after it show 98-99 on the thermometer

Do a search on water wigler. There are plenty of threads here to help you.

Styrofoam incubators tend to vary in temps a lot. Once you find the middle ground
you will be ok. If you have less than 20 eggs put a few bottles of water in the bator
to help stabilize the temps.

I plugged it up when I woke up this morning because I had a feeling the eggs would be in tomorrow, turns out they were here today. The eggs were laid like 5 days ago as it said on the packaging and i know that after a week the eggs lose their hatchability, so i put them in an hour ago. The incubator has been on since this morning. I thought that should have been enough time to warm up

Purplechicken: I sopped up alot of the water with a wash rag and their isn't much water in the bottom now. I took the eggs out of the bator and the therm. reads 80. i put the eggs back in and now im waiting for the therm. to heat back up

I have a Hova-Bator where the entire top is see-thru. I don't know what kind it is. My Ag-Tech teacher lent it to me.

and yes Purplechicken, I have been told not to listen to teachers

One of the reasons to have it set up and going at least a couple of days ahead of time is so you have some time to get the temps and humidity where it needs to be. What kind of hova-bator do you have?
