Eggs taking to long to develop

Need some help here, I have been incubating eggs but no luck yet. I know my stock is healthy, get them to day 21 but when ya candle they appear to be a week behind then they pass before doing external pip, yes we are getting internal about five days past the 21 day. It is a newer bator still air but I used it last year with great results. Any help would be appreciated thank you

Sounds like a temp problem. Might want to calibrate the themometer or use a second one that you know is accurate.

Thank you yes I got one today and the bator says 100 degrees but the thermostat says 95 so I have upped the bator temp and hope that turns things around for me. Question will my chicks still make it? Or should I start over? Then the first ones I have in lock down should I give them a few more days (in seperate bator) to see if the hatch? Where due 17 and 20. Nothing yet.

Then you need to go buy a thermometer or two, calibrate them and put them in your incubator. It's been a while since I have incubated eggs, but I think you want your temperature to be at the top of the eggs. You will want to do some research to be sure.

You can't calibrate the ones on the incubators. All you can do is get an accurate thermometer and put it in there and then see how far off the one on the bator is and just keep that in the back of your mind. If you want to calibrate a thermo just Google the ice water test for thermo calibration and it will explain how to do it.

Hello Everyone, Newbie here and I sure enjoy reading the forums as you can learn so much. However, I have not found what I'm looking for and I am worried about my chickens not hatching. This is day 24 and all I can see is this dark nothing in there with a good size air cell. Can anyone tell me if this is normal? Should I toss them after day 25 or 26? This is my first time. I am using one of those incubators that turn eggs for you and you keep an eye on the temp and humidity with forced air. Thanks for any advise

To all folks who ever intend to hatch eggs, PLEASE read "hatching eggs 101" in the learning center. Any thermometer, whether it's one you're holding in your hand, or it's one built into your bator is lying to you if you have not yet calibrated it. You will find everything you need to ensure successful hatching if you simply read that article.
