I am wondering if anyone might know...

Why when I candle the eggs that I put under my broodies, sometimes they look really watery inside? I still see veining and sometimes movement, but if I tilt the egg, it looks very liquidy. I don't know if I should just toss the eggs now or what.

One broody has been sitting on duck eggs and they are fine. Others have hatched the eggs from my trio fine also, but this is the second group of eggs I have found like this. I have had no problem hatching the eggs in my bator either.

Do you think she is leaving them too long? Getting them too hot? I am confused.

Thanks in advance for any help

They look right on time as far as developement, but the watery look seems to happen after about a week. I tossed the eggs the first time this happened, but didn't want to do it again if it isn't necessary.

I'm just afraid to let them go and then the chick drowns if that doesn't go away. But I am also curious as to why it might be happening.

I doubt if the broody is leaving them too long and I`m sure she will do the job for you. I would definately leave the eggs with her, at least til day 14, candle again and then make your determination. Good luck.......Pop
