Eggs w/o shells???

So we have a Brown Leghorn who just started laying about two weeks ago. She laid a few eggs but is now laying eggs with no shells. I am concerned that there is something wrong with her. I have now seen her do this twice. Is this normal? Has anyone heard of this? We are feeding them layer feed and oyster shell though they are not interested in the oyster shell. They are also free range in our yard... Thoughts? Thanks.

idk about how normal or not it is but was thinking if you want them to eat the shell you could mix it with something? chickens love yogurt and cooked oatmeal...

It happens sometimes, my husband and I usually throw them at each other as they make a very satisfying splat when they hit a person. I think that egg has just skipped that part of the chicken machinery, if she is getting layer crumbles and such that should be plenty of calcium. You can always try saving your eggshells and crumbling them up in their feed, that is how my girls get their extra calcium when they seem to need a boost.
