Ok, I have 6 New Hampshire Reds that just turned a year old and have been laying brown eggs faithfully since last October. As of about two weeks ago, the eggs are now white. No change in food or environment. And no change in size or quality. Any ideas here?

There is actually an article/question on this in the June/July issue of Backyard Poultry magazine. I think they said that the main case of loss of pigmentation is poor egg shell quality. Make sure they are getting 3-3.5% of calcium in their diet.

Thanks, I will check that out. I don't think that is the reason in my case. They are getting plenty of calcium and I still have good strong egg shells, no problem there, and still getting at least 3 double yolkers a day.
