Hi all
I haven't been around in a bit. I had a raccoon attack in my coop 4 nights lost 8 chickens and amazingly it never touched my ducks. thank god

OK so Gabby, Zeke, are now 9 months old and Pippa and Louie are 8 months.. I still have no eggs I've looked all over the coop all outside in the pen.. (they don't free range) but still no eggs.

is this late?
This is also their first winter, and there was the raccoon attack that might of traumatized them a bit.

Here is an updated pic for those of you that have seen my sweeties before
you can't see Zeke's head but he's pretty darn handsome.. lol
impossible to get 4 ducks staying still to take a pic.. course they are eating their nighttime treat

thanks all

I blame winter. We don’t have enough sunlight right now. At least they can use the energy that they would be using for laying to keep warm instead? No one is laying here either!

I was thinking that too. I feel bad for them, I fill their heated water bowl in the coop ( they have a whole different room of the coop for feeding) When I go out in the morning I fill their large rubber bowl because they still like to play in the water and drink outside.
This morning Pippa jumped in the bowl stretched herself straight out waiting to mate.. the males were looking at her like umm we cannot fit in there.. (she looked like she was planking because the bowl is big enough for 1 duck to sit in but not lay in.
I know they have been trying their hardest to figure out mating in winter LOL

:yuckyuck I’m sure they’ll figure it out soon. It may not be pretty, but they’ll find a way! :lau

Maybe we both need to print out all of the threads from the past several days from other people whose ducks are actually laying. Bring the printouts to our ducks and read the posts to them and show them the “first egg” pictures. Maybe, they just need “The Talk”.
