Eggs with rings - should I be concerned?

The past week has been crazy, so my mom and husband have been helping more with the ducks. Today when I collected the eggs, I noticed one had a darker blue band around it. When I showed it to my husband, he just casually said, "oh, yeah, I've been seeing those for awhile now - just thought it was an optical illusion at first, then realized one girls was laying eggs like that."

I'm so frustrated he didn't say anything to me about it! My mom knows squat about ducks, so she gets a pass for not realizing eggs with bands aren't the norm around here.

Anyways, here are a few of the more noticeable banned eggs that I've found in our eggs sitting on the counter. Should I be concerned about this?

Do you collect eggs every day?

I don't think there is anything to worry about.
Yes, we collect every day and the girls have been laying well/acting normal the whole time. My only concern is that the blue stripe is an indication that the eggs are getting temporarily stuck on their way out.

I noticed you had runners. If they are first time layers then your gonna see variations in colors. I have marans and I get some cool looking Saturn colored eggs! I found this chart below. Hope it helps. But looks like to me that the reproductive tract is slowing down. It could be heat or chicken still trying to figure this whole egg thing out or maybe a better diet producing better looking eggs. They are actually pretty cool. You might get even darker eggs!

@Helloworld yes, they're Indian Runners. They've actually been laying since mid-December, so I'm not sure if they are still considered new layers.

As for heat, yes, it's possible the warmer weather has been impacting them. We've been doing our best to ensure they always have access to their pool, fresh drinking water, and shady places to cool off.

As for diet, they've been on Mazuri Waterfowl Breeder feed for several months now. Only thing different is that I've been working harder on making sure they get plenty of greens daily, plus giving them more meal worms and fruit treats (mainly blueberries, watermelon, and grapes)

Hmmmm, blueberries is that new to their diet? Also, the chart is a guide, not always true. I had a Buff that laid Blue eggs and a Swedish that laid blackish eggs like a Cayuga. Eggs from the same duck may not always be the same color, just usually similar in color. Cream to white, dark to light grey. Those look good to me and I would have them for breakfast.

Also, are you hatching eggs? I use Mazuri waterfowl maintenance and oyster on the side. Never used the breeder, does it have calcium? I just wonder what the difference is. Ok off to Mazuri website as you have made me curious.

Well the website was not helpful other than one costs a dollar more. So I submitted a question. Will let you know what I find out.
