HI,
I have three marans hens in my little flock, each of them lays a very different colored egg. One lays very dark brown eggs but more often than not the pigment is uneven, almost appearing to scratched or scraped. Also these eggs must be very wet or sticky or something when laid because the pine shavings stick to them almost like they have been glued on. When the egg pigment is smooth and consistent this is not the case. Is this an indication of something wrong? Should I be worried or doing anything differently? Thank you for any advice.
