Hi folks!
I have a mystery that just started about 6 months ago. I have nine hens and a rooster, all 2 years old. Good layers.
what is going on with these eggs? I don’t know what is causing it. The eggs are very watery, large and the yolk will not hold together but they taste fine. Appearance has changed to long marks. The lines used to be bumpy and crinkly. One of the hens is laying these and I don’t know which one. The shells don’t appear to be over calcified.
3 amaricaunas( which would be blue)
3 golden Sussex
And 3 Buffingtons
Help!! This is diving me crazy. Lol

Irregular shell patterns can indicate that the hen is ready to take a break in her laying cycle or they can indicate problems in the hen's reproductive tract. This can happen at 2+ years with high production breeds. Sometimes this clears up spontaneously. Hopefully your hen will take that track.

Thank you, that is helpful
This had been going on for 6 months. The hens have not molted and have been producing eggs nonstop for 2 years even in the winter. What do you think is going on in the reproductive tract? This is consistent. One everyday.

Do you have them under lights?
Where in this world are you located?
Climate, and time of year, is almost always a factor.
Please add your general geographical location to your profile.
It's easy to do, and then it's always there!

I will add that! Thank you. That is very helpful. I’m in Bellingham WA. This has been going on in all temps from 20 deg to 70 de. For the most part it’s been in the upper 40’s with consistent stretch marks. No lights. That are all laying well

It's odd that they haven't molted if they are 24-30 months old.
Do you know which bird is laying these eggs....or is it all of them?
I may have misspoke on the molt. I should have said, I have not noticed them taking a break from laying.
I do not know which bird is doing it. Obviously it’s not the americaunaus. That leaves three buffs and 3 Gold Sussex.
thank you for your help🤗
